Space Norway CEO Morten Tengs is stepping down from the role at the end of August, and the company will begin the search for a new permanent CEO. Rune Jensen has been appointed the acting CEO of the company. Space Norway announced the management changes on Aug. 19.

Jensen is currently director of Subsea Cable at Space Norway and has been a member of the company’s executive management team since 2023. Before joining Space Norway, Jensen served for two years as the Norwegian Polar Institute’s resident manager in Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard.

“It has been a rewarding experience to lead Space Norway during an exciting period for the company, and I would like to thank our employees, partners and the Board for their excellent cooperation. From 1 September, I will take up the role of Special Adviser,” Tengs said in a statement.

Tengs took on the role of Space Norway CEO in June of 2024 after Space Norway completed the acquisition of Telenor Satellite in early 2024. Tengs previously served as CEO of Telenor Satellite and Telenor Satellite Services.

He spoke with Via Satellite last year about Space Norway’s investment in the THOR 8 satellite and its agreement for Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) services with Telesat.
