SES’s former CCO John-Paul Hemingway has joined Vast to lead business development for Vast’s new satellite manufacturing business. Hemingway is now senior vice president of satellite business development and commercialization for Vast, he announced on LinkedIn on June 21.
Hemingway spent nearly 10 years with SES and was formerly the CEO of the SES Networks business. He also served as chief strategy officer and chief commercial officer until August of 2025.
He joins Vast after the commercial space station company ventured into the commercial satellite bus business last month. Vast is utilizing components developed for the Haven commercial space station, including avionics, power, communications, propulsion, for a new high-power bus line called Vast Satellite.
“After a decade in leadership roles in the satellite operator domain, I’ve seen firsthand how the industry has evolved — and where it needs to go next,” Hemingway said in a post. “Vast’s founding vision of enabling humanity to live and work in space long-term — building next-generation space stations and infrastructure through an incremental, hardware-rich, and low-cost approach — is exactly the kind of bold, generational mission I want to be part of.”
