Amazon has signed its first resellers for Amazon Leo in the maritime market, announcing agreements with both MTN and Elcome. These agreements will open the door to Amazon Leo service in maritime markets like commercial shipping, offshore vessels, and yachting.

MTN also works with the cruise and ferry industry. MTN works with wireless carriers and satellite providers integrating 5G/LTE and high-throughput satellite (HTS) networks, as well as existing Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) partnerships with OneWeb and Starlink.

“Being selected as an authorized reseller of Amazon Leo network allows us to stay at the forefront of satellite innovation as we expand our multi-network architecture,” said Steve Ritacco, senior vice president of Technology and Product Development for MTN. “Integrating this new constellation will give us unparalleled flexibility to custom-design network solutions that offer continuous, high-performance service, including in the most challenging environments for maritime customers.”

Elcome noted it plans to deploy Amazon Leo Pro and Leo Ultra terminals for an independent LEO connectivity path that improves availability and network diversity at sea. Elcome’s existing fleet connectivity footprint is more than 5,000 vessels.

“This agreement advances our mission to deliver global, scalable, and future-ready connectivity to the maritime industry,” said Jimmy Grewal, managing director of Elcome. “Amazon Leo technology will help transform how vessels communicate, operate, and integrate with their shoreside networks.”

Amazon Leo has been ramping up its network of service providers and customers as the constellation is set to enter service this year. Recent commercial deals include AT&T, Crane Worldwide Logistics, Hunt Energy, and Connected Farms.
