[Satellite TODAY 02-10-12] Geospatial information solution provider GeoEye has successfully completed the last of four critical design reviews in its EnhancedView program for the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), the company announced Feb. 9.
The system critical design review was approved by the NGA in late January, representing the final step in verifying that GeoEye’s space, ground and overall system level designs met NGA operational and security requirements.
The EnhancedView program includes the development of the GeoEye-2 satellite and upgraded ground system architecture. In a statement, GeoEye COO Bill Schuster said the completed testing puts the delivery of the firm, fixed-price program on schedule.
“These milestones validate that our upgraded ground systems and GeoEye-2 satellite are designed to support the needs of the national security community, from our intelligence analysts at home to our many warfighters abroad,” said Schuster.
GeoEye-2 is scheduled to launch operations for the U.S. government and other customers in 2013.
