[Satellite TODAY 08-10-12] Intelsat and the Global VSAT forum (GVF) are sponsoring a communications training session that will be conducted at the Pacific Endeavor convention in Singapore, featuring government and non-governmental organizations operating in the Asia-Pacific region, the FSS operator announced Aug. 9.

GVF will lead a two-day, hands-on training workshop to certify students in the installation and maintenance of VSATs. After the students receive certifications, they will have the option to be included in the public GVF Installers Database.
Intelsat and GVF are sharing the cost of the training courses for 21 to 25 students from the Asia-Pacific region. Intelsat is providing bandwidth on the Intelsat 22 satellite to allow the students to demonstrate their abilities to correctly install the antennas without creating interference.
“There are now more satellites in orbit and more ground terminals in use than ever before, and this makes for a challenging radio frequency environment,” Intelsat Regional Vice President of Asia-Pacific Sales Terry Bleakley said in a statement. “It is only through industry partnerships and workshops like Pacific Endeavor that we can ensure reliable communications services continue to be available to all users around the world.”
