[Satellite TODAY 08-18-11] Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communicator manufacturer Quake Global has enhanced its Q-Pro satellite data modem with new abilities that can be used over the Inmarsat network, Quake announced Aug. 17.
The new Inmarsat capability will allow Quake to deliver low-cost satellite tracking and data services via the Inmarsat-4 satellite constellation. The Q-Pro can also be configured for Inmarsat’s IsatData Pro service to download near real-time messages of up to 10,000 bytes to any device, and send up to 6,400 bytes from these devices.
“Using the larger data packet size and transmission speeds, Quake Global can now seamlessly cater to demands for more data capacity and reduced latency in M2M applications,” Quake said in a company statement.
The company added that it will immediately begin presentations on the new Q-Pro for customers and will deliver the first production modems in the early part of its 2011 fourth quarter.
