[Satellite TODAY 07-12-11] The launch of six Globalstar satellites, scheduled for the early morning of July 11, was postponed by Arianespace following a countdown interruption prior to the Soyuz rocket’s launch from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, Arianespace announced.

Arianespace said the postponement was due to a malfunction of equipment on the Soyuz launch pad. “The issue has been resolved and the launch is now scheduled for July 12 at 8:43 a.m. Baikonur local time,” Arianespace said in a company statement.
Globalstar contracted Thales Alenia Space in late 2006 for the design, manufacture and delivery of its second-generation constellation satellites. Arianespace successfully launched six Globalstar second-generation satellites on the Soyuz in October 2010. Globalstar contracted with Arianespace in 2007 for a total of four launches of six satellites each.
