[Satellite TODAY 06-20-11] Ico Global Communications’ board of directors and its majority shareholder have voted to change the company’s name to Pendrell Corp., the re-branded entity announced June 17
Effective mid-July, Ico will operate under the ticker symbol PCO and continue to trade on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Pendrell’s board of directors also elected former Ico Chairman Craig McCaw to serve as non-executive chairman of the board. Ben Wolff will continue to serve as the company’s president and CEO.
“The move is consistent with the emerging corporate governance trend to separate the chairman and chief executive roles,” Pendrell said in a company statement.
The re-branding follows Dish Network’s acquisition of hybrid S-band service provider DBSD North America, a subsidiary of Ico, in March. Dish Network paid $325 million to Ico for the acquisition and committed to an additional $87.5 million as debtor-in-possession credit facility.
