[Satellite TODAY 02-17-10] Orbcomm signed an agreement with trailer fleet solutions provider GE Transport International Pool (GE TIP) to provide data transmitting services from Orbcomm’s low-Earth orbit satellite network to support GE’s VeriWise asset tracking product for trailers, Orbcomm announced Feb. 16.
Orbcomm will supply core communications components to the GE VeriWise system, including a vehicle-mounted battery pack and a low profile antenna placed on the front panel of fleet trailers.
“The technology provided by Orbcomm’s satellite network, combined with the resources available within GE, resulted in an asset tracking solution that customers can depend on,” GE TIP Vice President Christopher Kelley said in a statement.
