[Satellite TODAY 11-17-09] SES has invested $75 million to become a key shareholder in O3b Networks, the operator announced Nov. 16.
SES’ investment aims to support the development of O3b’s high-speed, satellite Internet network. SES will also provide engineering and commercial support to O3b in order to assist the company’s development. The operator joins Google, Liberty Global, HSBC and North Bridge Venture Partners as investors in O3b
O3b is building an ultra-low latency, fiber speed satellite network to serve as a global Internet backbone and next-generation backhaul infrastructure for people and businesses in emerging markets.
