[Satellite Today 03-20-09] GeoEye has started delivering high-resolution, color satellite imagery from its newest satellite to Google, GeoEye announced March. 19.
The images from GeoEye-1 include shots of the Pyramids of Giza, Mount Fuji, Sydney, Australia and other recognizable locations which can be viewed on Google’s Web site.
“Google is a very important customer with a huge appetite for map-accurate satellite imagery. We will work hard to ensure we meet all of their expectations,” Bill Wilt, GeoEye’s vice president of North American sales, said in a statement.
GeoEye-1 was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., in September.
