[Satellite Today 02-02-09] Russian pay-TV operator National Satellite Co. is expanding its capacity on Eutelsat‘s Eurobird 9 satellite to reach homes across the European territory of Russia, Eutelsat announced Jan. 30.
    National Satellite is using the expansion to launch its Platforma DV multi-channel offerings, using DRE encryption, enabling reception of channels in DVB-S2, standard- and high-definition.
    "The launch of Platform DV as a complement to [National Satellite’s] Platforma HD shows the strong appetite of Russian satellite homes for a wide variety of content and further anchors Eurobird 9 as a neighborhood of choice in this region," Eutelsat Commercial Director Olivier Millies-Lacroix, said in a statement.
