[Satellite Today 12-09-08] The Canadian government selected Stratos to provide products and Inmarsat broadband global area network (BGAN) services to all government departments, including the Canadian Department of National Defense, Stratos announced Dec. 9.
    The contract was awarded to Stratos’ subsidiary Stratos Wireless by the information technology services branch of public works and government services in Canada. The deal is valued at 25 million Canadian dollars ($19.8 million) and runs from 2009 through 2011 with two one-year options.
    Stratos President and CEO Jim Parm said he believes the contract ensures that Stratos will continue to serve all of Canada’s important government agencies into the future.
