[Via Satellite 11-26-2014] Comtech EF Data, a subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corporation has received a $3.5 million order for satellite communications ground equipment for use by one of Eastern Asia’s largest Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). Comtech EF Data will team the CDM-625A advanced satellite modem with the Memotec Radio Access Network (RAN) Optimization CXU Series, a multi-layered optimization approach to boost efficiency on the MNO’s links.

According to Comtech EF Data, the MNO has expanded to more than 1,000 locations over the past 10 years using its products. The operator currently supports a significant amount of traffic in both C and Ku band on multiple satellites. Comtech EF Data’s solution will enable the operator to expand its network and increase voice and data throughput by as much as 500 Mbps without requiring additional satellite bandwidth.
