Azercosmos has made a significant move in the AI arena. It has launched Platerra, an AI-powered platform designed to automatically analyze satellite imagery and turn it into geospatial information that can support decision-making across a range of applications. The company made the announcement, Oct. 7.

Platerra combines Earth Observation (EO) data with AI to automate key stages of satellite imagery analysis. By reducing the need for fully manual interpretation, the platform aims to enable users to extract relevant information from imagery more quickly and efficiently.

For Azercosmos, Platerra marks another step in combining space-based data with AI technologies. The platform is designed to expand the practical use of satellite imagery, improve access to processed geospatial information, and support faster decision-making. Azercosmos plans to continue developing Platerra by expanding its analytical capabilities and adding new applications in response to evolving user needs.

The company sees growing international interest in geospatial AI, or GeoAI, as organizations seek more efficient ways to process increasing volumes of EO data. It believes AI-based analysis can help make satellite-derived information more accessible and easier to apply in both operational and strategic decision-making.
