Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Co. CEO Yousuf Al Sayed said generating stronger revenues from the African communications market is one of the company’s key challenges in 2006.

“The major challenges are the expansion of terrestrial services in our distribution areas. This means we have to accelerate development of new distribution areas,” Al Sayed told Satellite Today. “… The African market was a key focus for us this year and will continue to be next year. We are working hard to improve our position there with the introduction of various new services including new and lower tariff services, high-speed data services [and] maritime services, as well as the expansion of existing public call office services.”

An in-depth interview with Yousuf Al Sayed can be found in the November 7th issue of Satellite News. For more information about subscribing to Access Intelligence’s satellite newsletters, check out our Web site at https://www.satellitetoday.com
