Northrop Grumman Corp. shipped the 23rd and last satellite in the long-running Defense Support Program (DSP) series to the U. S. Air Force’s Cape Canaveral Air Station, FL, for launch preparation.
This final DSP, scheduled to be launched in the fall, will be the first operational mission for Boeing’s Delta 4 Heavy rocket.
“This program has produced many technical innovations, provided the nation with a reliable missile-warning system and has honed the expertise of several generations of engineers and technicians who have contributed to other Northrop Grumman programs,” said Peggy Paul, DSP program manager at Northrop Grumman, in a statement.
