Modern Times Group (MTG) subsidiary Viasat Broadcasting is launching a new sports channel in Scandinavia. The channel, Viasat Sport 24, will be available to all Viasat direct- to-home (DTH) Gold package subscribers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.

The launch gives Viasat four dedicated sports channels. Viasat operates a DTH platform in the Nordic region and competes with fellow satellite pay-TV operator Canal Digital. Gaining a competitive edge in sports content is a key for both platforms.
