Intelsat Ltd. today said it has regained contact and control of the Intelsat Americas-7 satellite, which went dark Nov. 28 and was thought, at that time, to be permanently lost following a sudden and unusual electrical distribution anomaly. The company said that service restoration is underway and several key customers are expected to be operational on IA-7 by the end of today. The exact cause of the anomaly is still under investigation. The company added that its prospective acquirer, Zeus Holdings Ltd., is continuing its evaluation of the failure and its possible impact on the acquisition.
