Intelsat Americas-7 Lost
Intelsat Ltd. revealed that its Intelsat Americas-7 satellite experienced a sudden and unexpected electrical distribution anomaly that caused the permanent loss of the spacecraft Nov. 28 at 2:30 a.m. EST. Company officials assured that capacity was made available to most of its customers on other satellites and many of those customers have already had service restored. The satellite has been operating since 1999. Intelsat is working with satellite manufacturer Space Systems/Loral to determine the cause of the failure.
