Space Imaging Southeast Asia, an affiliate of Denver, Colo.-based Space Imaging, has begun direct tasking and data collection of high-resolution imagery from the IKONOS satellite. The operations as well as the receiving antenna and processing facility are located in Bangkok, Thailand. MappointAsia, a regional mapping/remote sensing company, will operate the ground station.

Space Imaging Southeast Asia and its customers will use IKONOS imagery for urban planning and zoning, infrastructure planning, airport and harbor management, insurance and risk management, disaster assessment, natural resource management and environmental monitoring, national security and other geospatial applications.
