Broadband Satellite Services Gains Former Inmarsat COO as Non-Executive Chairman

[Via Satellite 07-15-2015] Michael Butler, former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Inmarsat, has joined Broadband Satellite Services (BSS) the parent company of Satcom Global and the AND Group, as non-executive chairman. Formerly president and COO of Inmarsat from 2000 to 2009, Butler as spent more than 20 years working with technology companies.

At Inmarsat he led the launch of the I4 satellite constellation, introduced a portfolio of broadband services, underwent a leveraged buyout in 2003 as well as a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) in 2005, and then subsequently entered the Financial Times Stock Exchange 100 (FTSE 100) in 2008. Butler also holds non-executive directorships at a variety of key players in the Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) market including Thuraya, Addvalue and GeoReach Global.

In the past twelve months, BSS’ Satcom Global brand has expanded into the Russian satellite communications market, and launched a new sales office in Perth, Australia.
