[Via Satellite 04-29-2014] Gondwana, a pan-African telecom operator, selected Avanti Communications to help extend the company’s coverage to Kenya, Tanzania, parts of Uganda, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Avanti will power Gondwana broadband and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) services via its Hylas 2 satellite under the iWayAfrica and Africa Online brands.

“We are excited to partner with Avanti to power our VOIP and broadband satellite services. Deployment of Ka-band via small dishes is an exciting and compelling prospect for consumer data communications in Africa,” said Mathew Welthagen, CEO of Gondwana. “The costs savings — combined with the flexibility and quality of the Avanti proposition — will change this market completely.”
