MatSing developed a new proprietary manufacturing technology that it says will enable multibeam, wideband antennas to able to transmit and receive signals simultaneously across a range of directions and frequencies. The manufacturing development announced this week is for large-format Luneburg Lenses.
MatSing explained that this type of lens is not a new concept, but presents manufacturing challenges to be produced in large-format, high frequency RF lenses. The company says its unique manufacturing and materials allow for scalable production of large aperture lenses exceeding 50 wavelengths, while maintaining high-gain multibeam performance, wideband capabilities, focused RF coverage and beam quality.
The platform spans apertures from 0.5m to 2.4m, and frequencies from L- through Ka-band. Applications include multi-satellite gateway antennas, LEO/MEO/GEO communications, satellite teleports, passive RF sensing, multifunction radar, radio astronomy, deep-space communications, ultra wideband wireless, and maritime, airborne and land-mobile satcom.
