Viasat has received a $42 million task order under its contract to provide managed satcom services to the U.S. Marine Corps.
Viasat has a background in providing managed satcom to the Marines and was awarded a contract worth up to $307 million in May for global communication connectivity on the USMC Enterprise Commercial Satellite Services (MECS2) Contract. The task order was awarded by the U.S. Space Force Commercial Satellite Communications Office (CSCO).
Under this award, Viasat will deliver satcom services across L-, Ku, and Ka-bands through terminal solutions and satellites across orbits from the company and multiple partner providers. This service will provide access to the next-generation ViaSat-3 satellites, which have now all entered service.
Viasat said it will provide secure data custody from the edge back to the Marine Corps Enterprise Network via its terrestrial network. The managed service also includes support for bandwidth management, terminal inventory management, network performance monitoring and cybersecurity services.
