Boeing Defence Australia selected New York-based Lite Coms to provide tactical satellite terminals for a beyond-line of sight (BLOS) satcom program for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
Under the award announced Tuesday, Lite Coms will supply its LITE SAT 1.3A tactical satellite terminals for the LAND 4140 LAND C4 Modernization program. It is a lightweight, rugged terminal designed to quickly establish satellite communications.
When Boeing received the ADF contract last month, the company said it is a “critical link” in modernizing the ADF’s communications capabilities.
“Underpinned by high-speed, wideband satcom links, the advanced BLOS system will ensure uninterrupted data flow that allows the Australian Defence Force to connect when needed and operate with confidence when it matters most,” Matt Buckle, BDA’s director of Joint Systems said in a statement.
Lite Coms stated that additional program details and production timelines will be announced as they become available. The company focuses on rapidly deployable terminals and has deployed more than 10,000 VSAT terminals to the field.
