[Via Satellite 11-18-2015] Lepton Global Solutions has unveiled its new Block Network, which allows customers to pre-purchase “blocks” of service, or one month allocations,
with coverage over individual regions or Combatant Commands (COCOMs) at
pre-negotiated prices. Once customers purchase blocks, they can request option files with 48 hours’
notice for any region in the world in which a block has
been purchased.

      According to Lepton, the block
network removes major obstacles to ensuring a communications capability for signal officers while saving immensely on time and costs. To date, the company has sold more than 100 blocks of global service to U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) units on its iDirect managed services network.

Lepton estimates that customers recognize an average cost savings of 65 percent using month-long blocks, rather than longer-term agreement. The company says the only step block network customers must take when satellite services are required in-country is to place a phone call to the Lepton Network Operating Center (NOC), which is open 24/7.
