[Satellite Today 03-18-09] ViaSat received an order from the U.S. Army for initial production of the next generation Blue Force Tracking (BFT-2) transceivers for the Force 21 Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2) satellite network upgrade, ViaSat announced March 17.
The order is a follow-on to multiple demonstrations of the prototype BFT-2 satellite communications network, which is based on ViaSat’s ArcLight network technology.
The initial production units aim to support FBCB2–BFT-2 joint Army and Marine Corps field and operational testing, scheduled to begin in mid-2009.
