Japanese satellite imagery provider Axelspace signed an agreement with Airbus Defence and Space to provide Airbus with the company’s mid-resolution optical images. The partners plan to jointly develop and deliver satellite imagery solutions for customers.
Axelspace operates the four-satellite GRUS imagery constellation, which will soon expand to more than 10 satellites after satellites from a recent launch are brought into service. GRUS satellites are 100 kg-class optical satellites that collect high-frequency, wide-area imagery.
The company recently released the first images collected by its seven next-generation, GRUS-3 EO microsatellites launched in July (photo above). The satellites captured imagery just nine days after launch.
Axelspace noted the agreement will help the company expand into the European market.
“By providing our medium-resolution optical satellite imagery, captured with broad coverage and high revisit frequency, we believe this collaboration will further enhance the breadth, quality, and volume of satellite data available to customers, enabling a wider range of industries to benefit from Earth Observation insights,” Axelspace President and CEO Yuya Nakamura said.
