Eutelsat signed a capacity renewal for the Eutelsat 7 West A satellite with Télédiffusion d’Algérie (TDA), Algeria’s national broadcasting network operator. TDA has been a long-time customer of Eutelsat and is the single broadcaster in the Algerian market.
Under the new agreement announced Wednesday, TDA will continue to use Eutelsat’s satellite capacity at the 7/8 degrees West orbital position to deliver Algerian television channels. This orbital position reaches 70 million homes.
Eutelsat described the renewal as a long-term agreement, but financial terms were not disclosed.
“TDA is a strategic partner for Eutelsat in Algeria, and this renewal reflects the strength of a relationship built over many years. We are proud to keep supporting the distribution of Algerian television to audiences across MENA from 7/8° West, the region’s reference position for satellite TV,” commented Eutelsat MENA Sales Director Sandy Saade.
