Elveo Mobile entered into a strategic partnership with spacecraft manufacturer Apex to establish a dedicated spacecraft factory in the United States for Elveo’s planned Low-Earth Orbit direct-to-device (D2D) constellation.

Elveo, the result of the merger of D2D competitors Lynk and Omnispace in August, intends to use Apex’s vertically integrated Factory X model to rapidly scale up production in the U.S. The company also said it would take the same approach to expand manufacturing facilities into Europe and Asia with regional partners.

“As a leading manufacturer of next-generation spacecraft, Apex is helping us establish vertically integrated production and scale our supply chain, giving us an innovative and capital-efficient path to build our fleet,” Elveo CEO Ramu Potarazu said in the announcement. “This partnership not only puts us in control of our own development destiny and cost structure but also allows us to create high-tech economic opportunities internationally with partners.”

The Elveo network will feature patented satellite technology, compliant with 3GPP non-terrestrial networks (NTN) standards. The payloads for the constellation satellites include advanced on-board processing and networking. Elveo’s service aims to work on the approximately 8 billion mobile phones and devices already in the market.
