Univity has signed an MoU with Indonesian national satellite operator Telkomsat to explore collaboration on satellite connectivity.
The MoU announced Monday includes assessing Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) architecture, and future direct-to-device services. The two partners plan to explore satellite connectivity solutions for enterprise and mobility applications, as well as and unserved and underserved areas.
Univity, which raised 27 million euro earlier this year, plans to build a satellite constellation in VLEO to operate as a neutral space infrastructure for telcos to access satellite connectivity. The MoU with Telkomsat will explore hosted ground infrastructure in Indonesia, and hybrid multi-orbit architectures to combine Telkomsat’s Geostationary Orbit (GEO) satellite network with Univity’s network.
“Satellite connectivity continues to play an important role in supporting Indonesia’s digital ecosystem, particularly across remote and geographically dispersed areas. Through this MoU with Univity, we look forward to exploring how emerging satellite architectures and future non-terrestrial network capabilities could contribute to addressing evolving connectivity needs across the country,” commented Telkomsat Chief of Development Anggoro K. Widiawan.
