Eutelsat and 4iG Space and Defence Technologies (4iG SDT) have signed a new 15-year licensing deal related to the HUGEO, the Geostationary (GEO) telecoms satellite of the Hungarian HUSAT program. Eutelsat grants 4iG SDT an exclusive 15-year licence to use the designated Geostationary orbital position and associated frequency resources, enabling 4iG SDT to operate the HUGEO telecommunications satellite on this orbital slot after its launch. The two companies announced the agreement, Nov. 10.

The exact orbital position, frequency rights and satellite coverage areas remain confidential in accordance with the terms of the agreement.

HUSAT is the one of the largest privately initiated and financed satellite programs in Hungary and in the Central and Eastern European region. As part of the HUSAT program, 4iG SDT plans to launch and operate one Geostationary telecom (HUGEO) and eight high-resolution Earth Observation (EO) satellites in Low-Earth Orbit, called HULEO, by 2032 and will operate them throughout their lifetime.

“Our cooperation with Eutelsat marks the next major milestone of the HUSAT satellite program, while further strengthening the 4iG Group position as a leading technology player in the region,” said. “The contract also underlines Hungarian space industry ambitions and satellite programme, which are recognised by leading global players,” István Sárhegyi, CEO of 4iG Space and Defence Technologies, said in a statement.
