Yahsat has signed an MoU for a multi-year deal to leverage capacity on Eutelsat Group‘s Konnect satellite across multiple African and Middle East nations.

Under the deal announced Wednesday, Yahsat will have exclusive rights to Konnect capacity over Ethiopia, one of the fastest-growing African markets. Yahsat said this deal will support the growth of its YahClick broadband services to consumer and enterprise markets. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Eutelsat also announced that while the Konnect satellite originally covered Europe and Africa, the satellite’s entire capacity is being progressively transferred to provide dedicated African coverage. Eutelsat Konnect was built by Thales Alenia Space and was launched in 2020.

Commenting on the MoU, Yahsat CCO Sulaiman Al Ali said: ‘We are delighted to partner with Eutelsat and have access to state-of-the-art orbital assets, to support our satellite network. This partnership shall enable us to further enhance our portfolio and drive growth of our YahClick broadband services to consumer and enterprise markets. Yahsat supported Eutelsat in the early years of its African broadband journey, and we are happy to be collaborating once again to ensure our existing and future customers benefit from the highest level of service and availability.”
