[Satellite TODAY 03-28-11] ViaSat expanded the coverage of its Yonder high-speed internet service in Brazil and the surrounding region via the StarOne C1 satellite, the operator announced March 25.
    ViaSat installed and commissioned a regional teleport in Rio de Janeiro to support the service expansion as the company tries to leverage its regional network for maritime and aviation customers.
    "The added coverage in South America automatically becomes available to our Yonder service customers, so all aviation and maritime customers can now benefit from this expansion. We continue to expand our Yonder network, region by region, and remain on target to complete the full deployment of the network by the end of 2012," ViaSat Director of Mobile Broadband Don Buchman said in a statement.
