[Satellite TODAY 07-06-10] TerreStar expects to begin commercial rollout of its TerreStar Genus dual-mode satellite-cellular smartphone in September, the company announced July 5.
TerraStar unveiled the smartphone and its service partnership with AT&T in September 2009. The Genus service will be offered to customers in the United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.
Separately, TerreStar Networks announced it has renewed the in-orbit insurance on its commercial communications satellite TerreStar-1 for an additional year.
Financial details of the contract renewal were not disclosed.
