[Satellite TODAY 12-17-09] Inmarsat activated its 5,000th FleetBroadband terminal, the company announced Dec. 15.
The figure represents commercially active SIM cards passing operational traffic.
The FleetBroadband FB150 unit, launched in July, already has 500 terminals activated, a rate of adoption which is twice that of FB500 and FB250 at a similar period after launch, according to Inmarsat. “FB150, in particular, is beating our expectations,” said Piers Cunningham, maritime business director of Inmarsat, in a statement.
The FleetBroadband service was launched in November 2007.
