[Satellite TODAY 10-16-09] Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) appointed CEO Patrick DeWitt the company’s chairman, the company Oct. 15.
    DeWitt will relinquish his duties as CEO and retire at the end of 2009 to take up his new position. He began his 36 years at SS/L as a financial analyst.
    John Celli, SS/L’s president and COO, will lead the company’s day-to-day operations. “Celli was chosen as my successor because of his knowledge of the satellite business, his proven leadership and the trust and confidence of our customers. He is prepared to lead the company to even greater successes,” DeWitt said in a statement.
