[Satellite TODAY 09-25-09] Avanti Communications signed three contracts for Hylas satellite broadband services, the company announced Sept. 23.
Avanti will provide broadband services to Insis System Engineering, which provides systems integration services in automation, environmental monitoring and infrastructure control in Italy. Italian consumer broadband company Broadsat SRL and Macedonian utility management company EnergoData both signed capacity, telemetry and control services deals, committing to the minimum order volumes.
The new deals fulfill Avanti’s goal of signing at least 50 Hylas deals before its launch by Arianespace in early 2010.
“I am delighted to add three new customers to our distribution network bringing us to 51 service providers in 13 countries. We have always assumed that 50 service providers would be enough to fill Hylas quickly. We removed the last major technical risk from our project in July with the launch upgrade. With the achievement today of a major distribution milestone we therefore now have full confidence that we are also rapidly removing commercial risks,” Avanti CEO David Williams said in a statement.
