[Satellite TODAY 09-23-09] Intelsat signed a multi-year agreement with CBM Communications, a global provider of end-to-end communication solutions for mobile assets in commercial, maritime, military and government markets, to provide CBM with the Ku- and C-band transmission facilities needed to launch its Global Broadband IP platform, Intelsat announced Sept. 22.
CBM and its business affiliate Marine Technologies (MT/C-Comm) will launch the service, built on iDirect’s Intelligent Platform, using capacity on eight Intelsat satellites, along with the operator’s GlobalConnex network broadband managed service, leveraging Intelsat’s global teleport, fiber and satellite network.
Intelsat said its global infrastructure aims to allow CBM to provide secure file transfers, content management and on-demand connectivity applications to its maritime customers through MT/C-Comm products and services.
“Seamless connectivity for remote locations needing to communicate with headquarters or each other is critical when seeking to achieve operational success. Now, CBM/MT/C-Comm is able to offer an industry-leading IP network that will meet these requirements, all from a single provider,” Bill McKinnell, vice president of CBM, said in a statement.
Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
