[Satellite TODAY 08-28-09] ITT Interconnect Solutions, a subsudiary of ITT Corp. and manufacturer of connectors, interconnects, and cable assemblies, has developed a micro bus-floating (MBF) connector for computer data bus applications in satellite communications, ITT announced Aug. 27.
The 40-position, 1.27-millimeter-pitch MBF connector has a mated height of 8 millimeters. Its double contact design aims to increase contact reliability. The connector also features a floating metal spring designed to produce a cushioning effect to ensure contact accuracy between the connector and the PCB frame.
The product was designed for specific space projects that need easily mateable miniature connectors capable of holding two or more PC board frames stacked together. “Not only does the MBF connector incorporate these features, but it is also guaranteed for up to 1,000 mating cycles, whereas standard elastomeric connectors can typically only be used once,” ITT spokesman Keith Teichmann said in a statement.
