[Satellite Today 07-20-09] Boeing will build the Intelsat 21 and Intelsat 22 satellites for Intelsat based on Boeing’s new 702B model, the companies announced in a conference call on July 16.
    Intelsat 21 will provide services to the Americas and Intelsat 22 will provide a UHF-hosted payload with mobility beams serving the Indian Ocean region. Craig Cooning, vice president and general manager of Boeing’s space and intelligence systems division said that the company will build an additional two 702B satellites for Intelsat, which have yet to be defined.
    The companies said that various reports, which speculated that the value of the contract at $1 billion, were incorrect. The companies did not disclose the contract value.
