[Satellite Today 05-28-09] Starling Advanced Communications will unveil a new satellite antenna, StarRail, which aims to deliver broadband communications aboard high-speed trains, the company announced May 27.
The new product will leverage Ku-band and coherent multi-panel antenna technology, allowing multi-megabit-per-second performance for voice, streaming Internet and video and the transmission of other types of heavy files, supporting passenger and crew applications simultaneously.
The “two-way continuous broadband connectivity is reliable at speeds exceeding 300 kilometers per hour, and its high efficiency gives operators a lower cost per megabyte,” Jacob Keret, Starling’s vice president of marketing and sales, said in a statement.
