[Satellite Today 02-25-09] Nagravision won a contract to provide a conditional access (CA) system for Tivu Sat, a new digital satellite platform in Italy, Nagravision announced Feb. 23.
Tivu Sat, a free-to-air satellite service owned by Italian broadcasters RAI, Mediaset and Telecom Italia Media, is scheduled to make its debut in Italy in mid-2009. The free service will be offered to all households unable to receive the digital terrestrial television channels during and after the analog terrestrial switch planned for completion by the end of 2012.
Tive Say will be competing with Sky Italia, the pay-TV market leader in Italy with about 4.7 million DTH subscribers.
