[Satellite Today 01-26-09] Indonesia’s state-owned PT Telekomunikasi Donesia (Telkom) is in talks with its competitors to jointly invest capital in Telkom-4, a satellite project to expand national Internet and communication access, The Jakarta Post reported Jan. 23.
PT Indosat was among the firms approached, the report said.
In December, Telkom appointed Russia-based firm ISI Retchesnev to build and launch its planned Telkom-3 satellite for between $175 million and $200 million. The specific amount of the contract will be revealed when it is signed in February, Telkom said.
