[Satellite Today 01-22-09] Swedish Space Corp. (SSC) reached an agreement to acquire Universal Space Network (USN) and will purchase all of its U.S. stock shares, SSC announced Jan. 22.
The two companies have been cooperating on projects such as PrioraNet worldwide satellite tracking service missions since 1999. “With this integration of these two leading businesses, PrioraNet becomes the largest commercial service for satellite operations and communications,” Lars Persson, SCC president and CEO, said in a statement.
USN will operate as a U.S.-based subsidiary of SSC after the close of the merger, the companies said.
