[Satellite Today – 06-04-08] GMV has made a crucial breakthrough in Latin America with a deal with one of the region’s largest satellite operators, GMV announced June 4.
Under a deal with Star One, GMV will upgrade the Brasilsat satellite control facility for the Brasilsat B1, B2, B3 and B4 satellites. GMV will provide software and hardware designed to last through the end of life for these four spacecraft. GMV also will integrate the satellite control center, base-band units and associated radiofrequency hardware and software as well as provide the satellite telemetry and telecommand system, and flight dynamics system.
This is GMV’s first contract with Star One, the largest satellite operator based in South America. “This contract is exciting because it furthers GMV’s position in South-Central America with the largest operational satellite control system in this region of the world,” Theresa Beech, managing director and vice president of business development of GMV, said in a statement.
