[Satellite Today – 2-8-08] Eutelsat has signed a deal with one of Germany’s biggest cable operators for a new digital platform in Germany, the satellite operator announced Feb. 7.
Under the deal with Tele Columbus, the two companies will establish a platform for bundling digital channels and services for German cable homes from Eutelsat’s Eurobird 9 satellite. The satellite is located in proximity to Eutelsat’s flagship Hot Bird position.
Tele Columbus has nearly 3.7 million subscribers, and the new platform is a further important step in the company’s transformation from an infrastructure provider to a customer-centered telecoms and multimedia provider.
