[Via Satellite 02-05-2016] The ASC Signal Division of Communications & Power Industries (CPI) has won a contract for eight multi-band antennas for coverage of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games and other regional sports broadcasts for a major Latin American broadcast network. The contract includes one 7.6-meter dual C- and Ku-band transmit/receive antenna and seven 4.5-meter antennas configured with a mix of capabilities. Brazilian integrator Seal Broadcast & Content will install the antennas.

All of the antennas are equipped with the Next-Generation Controller (NGC) from CPI ASC Signal Division, which lets operators control and operate multiple antenna systems from a single device. The NGC has remote access and tracking capabilities built into the system, an internal spectrum analyzer, redundancy control systems, and many other high-performance controller features.

The 2016 Summer Olympic Games, the first slated to occur in Latin America, kick off in Rio de Janeiro on Aug. 5. The city has invested more than $100 billion in infrastructure and transportation to support the games as well as the World Cup played there in 2015.
