[Via Satellite 11-10-2014] Crystal TV, a leading commercial broadcaster in Ghana, has signed a 10-year contract with Eutelsat for capacity on the Eutelsat 16A satellite. Until now, Crystal TV conducted broadcasts through terrestrial means, but was only able to reach Ghana’s main urban areas in Accra, the Ashanti Region and parts of the country’s Eastern and Central regions. Using Eutelsat 16A’s high-power Sub-Saharan African footprint, the company can now broadcast its Free-to-Air (FTA) and Pay-TV channels across the entire country of Ghana.

The agreement makes Crystal TV a national provider of digital content. Households can access Crystal TV channels with a digital decoder and an access card for pay-TV content.

“With this Eutelsat partnership and other project partners, we believe the stage is set for Ghana and Africa to accelerate with ease the transition from analog to digital TV,” said Crystal-Djirackor, chief of Crystal TV.
